Giving a wedding is a bittersweet for many of us.

On one hand, we're delighted to be able to stand in front of everyone and tell the bride and/or groom how we feel about them. It's a dear moment that lets them -- and everyone else -- know just how special the happy couple is to us.

On the other hand, knowing we'll have to deliver a prepared toast is, well, terrifying! Public speaking, for its obvious reasons, continues to be one of the most feared things any of us will ever face!

But it can be done. You can stand before everyone and deliver a crowd-pleasing best man, maid of honor, father of the bride, or mother of the groom toast! The process isn't even that hard. It just takes a little research on your end to get things going.

Start the process off on the right foot by taking these initial steps:

* Brainstorm. What will you want to say in your speech? Think of a funny story or two that will show the bride and/or groom in a positive light. Wedding toasts humor is one of the most surefire ways to have a toast thats remembered. Just jot down any notes you can think of.

* Decide how long you will want your speech to last. If you're delivering a best man or maid of honor toast, toast etiquette dictates speaking between 3-5 minutes. If you're a groomsman or bridesmaid, prepare to talk for 1-3 minutes. Wondering about mother to son wedding toasts? Speeches like these from members of the immediate family can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

* Return to your initial notes and begin to structure your toast. You will inevitably have to make some cuts, assuming you were able to think of stories, pieces of advice, words of wisdom, etc. Begin "piecing together" your speech according to how long it will be.

Unfortunately, its at this point where most people find trouble. After the speech has been structured its time to actually start writing it. But how do you start your toast? How do you end it?

At http://www.ToastEtiquette.com, find tips, resources, and a list of the web's best sites that can get you on your way to completing that great speech. Many of the sites contain free humorous wedding toasts and other templates that can help you ultimately construct a winning toast. Learn to be calm and confident in your delivery while dazzling the audience with your wise words!
